Torrents d’Art and Parc Sanitari de Sant Joan de Déu hold the VII Jornada de Artes en Salud to vindicate the impact of culture on emotional wellbeing

  • Art and Society
  • Torrents d’art
  • The day on 8 May will feature the participation of the singer Joan Dausá and the renowned pastry chef Christian Escribá, who will open the day, as well as experts in the health and cultural fields who will take part in the round tables. Carmen Cabezas, Martín Correa, Begoña Trujillo and Guillermo de Efak will reflect on cultural rights, resilient communities and social prescription. And, in a second round table, Sílvia Duran, Montserrat Verdú, Claudia Cedó and Sebastià J. Santaeugènia will uncover the keys to new alliances between the cultural and health spheres.

The aim of the conference is to highlight the value of art in improving people’s quality of life, fostering communication and alleviating pain. That is why it is so important to analyse the impact of culture on social inclusion, especially in the fight against stigma and unwanted loneliness, and to highlight the existing challenges to promote real and effective art programmes in the health system in Catalonia.

In addition, the conference will feature the testimony of users and professionals, who will explain in first person how art and culture have had an impact on their emotional well-being, and the participation of the Radio Nikosia collective, made up of people diagnosed with mental health problems.

The Fundació Glòria Soler has supported the Torrents d’Art project since its beginnings, promoted by the Mental Health Area of the Parc Sanitari de Sant Joan de Déu, with the aim of supporting a stable programme of workshops and activities where art and mental health are in dialogue.
