The Fundació Glòria Soler renews its Art and Science project with IDIBAPS/Clínic Barcelona with the temporary loan of Eduardo Arroyo’s “Secret Service”

  • Art and Society
  • The work from the Suñol Soler Collection “Secret Service” by the artist Eduardo Arroyo has been installed in the foyer of the IDIBAPS auditorium, the fourth work from the collection to be temporarily loaned to the research centre as part of the “Art and Science” project.

The “Art and Science” project, promoted by the Hospital Clínic, IDIBAPS, the Fundació Suñol and the Fundació Glòria Soler, aims to bring the two disciplines closer together and allow art to enter the facilities where research is carried out in order to generate a new social impact.

The work “Secret Service” by Eduardo Arroyo (Madrid, 1937-2018) is exhibited in the foyer of the Esteve Auditorium of the Esther Koplowitz Centre, home of IDIBAPS, and replaces the work “Peu i Vernís” by the artist Antoni Tàpies, which was presented during 2024 to coincide with the celebrations of the Tàpies Year, coordinated by the Museu Tàpies in Barcelona.

Eduardo Arroyo was a painter, sculptor, illustrator, engraver, stage designer, storyteller and essayist. In the 1960s he began his career as a figurative painter in an artistic context in which abstraction and expressionism prevailed. His critical attitude towards the dictatorship led him to go into exile in Paris, where he lived for two decades and from where he achieved European recognition. He mainly followed the iconoclastic and scathing line of pop art of a political nature, but with his own language of unquestionable plastic force.
