The Fundació Suñol, in collaboration with the Fundació Glòria Soler, has donated the work L’estany by the painter and poet Albert Ràfols-Casamada, one of the most versatile and relevant contemporary Catalan artists, and of whom this year celebrates the centenary of his birth in the recently opened Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona. A pioneer center in child cancer treatment at an international level, belonging to the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona, with which the Fundació Glòria Soler has collaborated for years.
The abstraction and blue tones of L’estany by Ràfols-Casamada, an artist in love with the sea and creator of spaces and infinite windows of light, are the starting point of some workshops specially designed on the work, aimed at the boys and girls of the cancer center, developed by the team of volunteers from the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona, with the collaboration of the Fundació Suñol and the Fundació Glòria Soler.
The objective of this collaboration is to bring contemporary art closer to the public and promote actions that imply an improvement in social well-being, also in the hospital environment.
With this same purpose, and throughout the year, the headquarters of the Fundació Suñol will organize family workshops and other activities around the figure of the artist.
