The documentary ARI, A story of love and life, funded by the Glòria Soler Foundation, is a tribute to Ariana Benedé, her family and all the medical professionals and people and institutions that made it possible to promote the clinical trials that have led to the incorporation of CAR-T therapies, with the aim of curing acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in as many cases as possible. In 2016, at the proposal of Josep Suñol Soler, the Board of Trustees of the Glòria Soler Foundation appointed Ariana Benedé as a posthumous patron for her solidarity, courage and generosity.
The documentary ARI. A story of love and life, which was presented on 29 February at the El Bosque cinema in Barcelona, is a production of the Hospital Clínic Barcelona, with the collaboration of IDIBAPS, is produced by DOCME films and has been made possible thanks to funding from the Fundació Glòria Soler. Through the documentary we learn the story of Ariana Benedé, Ari, and how a group of professionals at the Clínic-IDIBAPS were able to make CAR-T therapy a reality at the hospital thanks to the ARI Project.
The Glòria Soler Foundation created by Josep Suñol Soler, in memory of his mother, was the first private institution to financially support the ARI Project, which was a decisive impetus to carry out the clinical trial.
The Glòria Soler Foundation has collaborated in other projects with the Hospital Clinic/IDIBAPS, such as the creation of the COVIDBANK during the CoVID-19 epidemic or currently in an Art and Science Project, with the aim of bringing the Suñol Soler Collection closer to the health sector, so that researchers, health professionals and patients can enjoy it.
