Following the success of the pilot study carried out in 2024 with very favourable results, the major innovation in 2025 has been that Blue Soler is now being considered as a clinical trial, having obtained approval from the Ethics Committee of the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.
Congratulations to the group of participants in this project. Their enthusiasm, rigour and courage have been essential to the successful completion of this first group of the clinical study.
The activities are designed by a team of sports professionals, qualified SUP & Surf technicians and a sports physiotherapist.
The programme of activities took place between April and July, in weekly two-hour sessions at the Blue Salt Surf & SUP School in BarcelonaB, and is carried out under the clinical coordination of the Sports Medicine Unit, Hospital Clínic-Sant Joan de Déu, with Dr Eva Ferrer Vidal-Barraquer as clinical coordinator, and in collaboration with the University of Barcelona (INEF) and the Blue Health SUP Teràpeutic Barcelona association.
The next steps in the Blue Soler project are to evaluate the results of this first intervention as a clinical study, publish the results in a scientific article, create protocols and best practice guidelines in order to scale up the project and share the knowledge gained.
